Scholarship Information

The Childs Dunbar, The International Propeller Club, Port of New Orleans Scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving student member in our student port chapter. Its purpose is to promote, further and support an American Merchant Marine to aid the development of river, great lakes and harbor improvements. The award is supported by the Propeller Club, Port of New Orleans.

Criteria:

  • Be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university.
  • Be pursuing a degree or certificate program relevant to the maritime industry (e.g., maritime law, marine engineering, logistics, environmental science, naval architecture, or related fields).
  • Demonstrate academic excellence with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Be a current member of the Propeller Club Port of New Orleans Student Port Program, which is free.

Management of the Scholarship is overseen by the “Scholarship Committee” of the Port of New Orleans Propeller Club.

Award: $1000.00 is awarded each fall.

Scholarship Application Deadline: June 30th.

The Scholarship Fund is supported by contributions from the Port of New Orleans Propeller Club and its members, local businesses, and private donations.
